Dishwasher Woes
We are almost out of dishwasher detergent around our house. I was thinking recently about how happy I have been with the laundry soap I made and thought, "I bet there is a recipe for dishwasher soap too." Of course, there were lots, but the easiest one was this:
1 Tbls Borax
1 Tbls baking soda
Pretty easy huh? Plus, I already had the Borax from the laundry soap. I grabbed a few cups of baking soda from the bulk bins at Winco. Combined it with an equal amount of Borax and stuck it all in my old dishwasher detergent bag.
Everytime I need to run the washer I just scoop about 2 Tablespoons of the mix and I am good to go. It cost me about...$2. Yep, $2 for about 5 cups of detergent (about 40 loads) Definitely a MONEY SAVER!!
When I was seaching for this recipe I also saw a replacement for the rinsing agent (like electrasol) Just use up whatever rinsing agent is in your dishwasher, then just fill up with white vinegar. Easy as pie...and super cheap (only cents, instead of several dollars)
