Our "bulb" flowers are already poking out of the ground, so I thought I had better get started!
I found a raised garden bed kit online for SUPER cheap over the winter, free shipping too! So today we put them together and prepared the land. Then we made a trip to the garden center for top soil and vegetable potting soil, as well as some seeds.
A few of the seeds I chose are able to be planted right now and several more can be planted in 1-2 months so I started to grow those inside. I have a few other items that will have to wait until late May.
I am NOT a good gardener...in fact I have been known to kill tomatoes, which are supposed to be the easiest! But last year I was able to keep my tomatoes and my herb garden going...so I am ready to kick it up a notch.
I spent about $80 for everything, soil, seeds, beds. But with produce being around 1/4 of my grocery budget I think I will come out ahead, even if everything isn't successful. Plus, next year all I will have to do is get some new seeds and take care of my garden over the winter to insure it has all the nutrients it needs.
